Of All Your Light Fixtures Bathroom Fittings Need The Most Protection
Of all your light fixtures bathroom bulbs tend to be the ones which have the most to deal with. They have to be able to cope with the possibility of water splashes, even if they are located where they should be on the ceiling. They also have to cope with a regular battering from steam, every time you take a shower or a bath. They even have to cope with the weather to a certain extent, as you will invariably need to open the windows of a bathroom more frequently than those of most other rooms, assuming you don't live in a tropical climate.
Choosing good bathroom light fixtures is easier than it once was, as the Internet gives us a lot more information we can easily access. There are many different designs and types of bathroom light, from the traditional light fitting suspended from the ceiling to the modern sunken designs which appear to be integrated with the ceiling or wall surface. The first step is to work out exactly what you need from your bathroom lighting. An important consideration is the position of any shadows you will create as you use the facilities.
The different styles of bath light fixtures will create different effects, which may be more suitable for some bathrooms than others. It goes without saying that you need you need to have enough light, but it is where that light should be which is important. A standard fitting can only be applied to a ceiling, and this may not be the best place for your light fitting to be. If your bath is a long way from the central lighting fixture, you may find your own shadow to be irritating at certain times. A modern wall fitting can help to overcome this.
Of course safety is the most important consideration here. Of all your home's light fixtures bathroom bulbs and covers are the ones which need to be protected the most. The fact that you need specialist fittings for a bathroom does inevitably restrict your choice to some degree, but you will find that you still have a lot of room to work with. Wall and ceiling fittings can now be safely sunk into the material, and bath light fixtures can be fitted far more closely than before.
It is a good idea to see your bathroom light fixtures in operation before you buy them, just to see if they do throw out enough light to satisfy. Bathrooms tend to be the smallest room in a house, but some luxurious bathrooms in large houses can be much larger than normal. You don't want to design and build your bathroom only to find that you need to tear down some of the fittings to put in extra bathroom light fixtures.
